Game, Set and Match – Parking at Wimbledon

Filed under: Latest Parking News,Story — Anthony Eskinazi @ 5:06 pm

Parking at Wimbledon Finding parking anywhere close to The All England Club during The Championships is not possible and due to the unavailability of commercial car parks the driveway economy thrives during this fortnight.

I spent most of Monday in the SW19 area talking to home owners, handing out leaflets and talking to current ParkatmyHouse.com customers to find out a bit more about how long they have been renting out their drive, how much money they normally make and what problems they have experienced over the last few years.

Some home owners were parking 15 cars in their front driveway at £20 per car which over the two weeks should generate over £3,000. Not bad for a few hours work before you leave for the office in the morning.

I was also pleased to see that a number of homes were using the huge parking demand to raise money for their chosen charity (see picture on right).

The Wimbledon Tennis Championships was one of the first examples in the UK where the true value of an empty driveway became apparent. This is set to continue for many years to come and during my walk in the surrounding roads, I noticed that there are many of you that are not taking full advantage of your under utilised real estate.

We have many parking spaces available close to the tennis. Here are just a few:

10 Minutes From Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, LONDON, SW19
Private, quiet site with evening lighting provided. On site security/caretaker in attendance.

5 Minutes From Southfields Tube Station, LONDON, SW19
2 spaces available for off street car parking in a quiet, safe, well lit area.

15 Mins From Wimbledon Tennis, London, SW19
Off street site with evening lighting provided. There is a 15 minute walk down hill to Wimbledon Tennis

Replacing a snail with a leapord

Filed under: Latest Parking News,Story — Anthony Eskinazi @ 4:57 pm

I haven’t done the proper research but I would like to think that a leopard is quite a fast animal. Admittedly they still lag behind cheetahs, but I can imagine they would hold their own against the rest of the animal kingdom.

“What is this guy on about?”

Well, last night we did quite a big algorithmic update behind the scenes which not only will provide better search results but also cause all our search results pages to show up much faster.

We have not reached cheetah status yet, but we have definitely moved on from snail status which I felt we had been at for the past few weeks. Hopefully you will notice a big improvement – if not, then please let us know and we will look in to getting you faster Internet Access ;-)

More Parking Options around UK Airports

Filed under: Latest Parking News,Story — Anthony Eskinazi @ 3:34 am

Airport parking prices are extortionate and we like to think that ParkatmyHouse.com helps a little by providing cheaper private accommodation for your beloved vehicle while you bake in the sun at some exotic location far far away.

Sometimes however, parking a few miles away and then getting a lift or a taxi can seem like a hassle, especially once you have finished your holiday and all you want to do is jump in the car and get home.

We’ve been teamed up with a number of the main commercial airport parking lots and now, whenever you search near a major UK airport, we will give you the option to get a quote for a commercial and closer parking space.

For example, a search for heathrow airport will display all our private parking spots around Heathrow and in the right hand column, underneath the map, is a simple booking form and a list of some of the commercial car parks we offer for instant bookings.

ZipcarWe’re delighted to announce that hot on the heels of its recent launch in London, we’ve teamed up with Zipcar to offer ParkatmyHouse.com users a completely unique and very exciting opportunity.

What is Zipcar?

If you aren’t familiar with Zipcar, it’s a revolutionary, clean, green and affordable way of getting about by car without any of the cost and headache that comes with owning a car yourself.

The way it works is that self-service, on-demand Zipcars are parked in various locations around the city. They’re accessible 24/7 and available to reserve by the hour or by the day.

You can book a Zipcar online or over the phone at any time, any day of the week. Then all you have to do is walk to the nearby car, unlock it by swiping your unique Zipcard across the windscreen and drive away with the minimum of fuss.

Driving a Zipcar works out as a fantastic saving. It costs from as little as £4.95 an hour. That amount covers parking, petrol, insurance, maintenance, Congestion Charge and 60 miles of driving.

So you get the convenience, freedom and comfort of a car with none of the expense and aggravation. What’s more, you can drive a whole variety of fun and environmentally vehicles from a luxury BMW to a run-around MINI. It’s the perfect alternative to car ownership and we love it!

What are we offering ParkatmyHouse.com members?
If you’ve registered your space on ParkatmyHouse.com but you’re still waiting for a Parker, why not let it out to Zipcar? In return, we’ll

  • pay you for your parking space
  • give you a thank-you in the form of £85 worth of free driving credit when you become a Zipcar member!

Not bad we say!

How do I rent my parking space to Zipcar?

Simply edit your parking space to add it to our Zipcar opt-in database.

You’ll need to ensure is that your space is both available and accessible on a round-the-clock basis and that you have the legal right to rent out the space.

If your space is within the confines of a gated building, a lock box can be fitted to house the clicker for entry. Zipcar will deal directly with the management company responsible for the building so it’s hassle-free for you.
